Shape & Shades: Designing Moldable Plant Shades for Stylish Protection

Through multiple rounds of prototyping and testing, we developed several solutions using both plastics and metals. During the design process we also introduced additional patentable elements, including specialized mounting stands that allow the shades to be easily positioned within plant beds.

After evaluating performance, manufacturability, and cost, we finalized the design using annealed aluminum that could be anodized for durability and aesthetics. We also incorporated a novel attachment system that makes the shades simple to manufacture while remaining affordable for large-scale production. ProtoBear prepared the patent application, which is currently being prosecuted by the client’s attorney.
