The product was created to solve a common challenge in live sound: maintaining proper distance and positioning at the microphone. ProtoBear helped transform an early concept into a production-ready product through iterative design, prototyping, material testing, patent development, and manufacturing coordination.
The development process started with 3D-printed prototypes to evaluate effectiveness and performance with a variety of microphones during real use. Once the design was refined, we produced 3D-printed molds that allowed us to create injection-molded prototype parts and test different materials and manufacturing approaches.
ProtoBear also prepared the technical documentation required for patent filing, assisted with sourcing a manufacturing partner, and coordinated the transition to production.
Mic Trainer ultimately received a full utility patent and is now commercially available through MicTrainer.com and select retailers, including Guitar Center.
